 Three talks on Affordable Housing

 ·         Julian Peacock, of Hastoe Housing Association, will talk about the projects which they have been involved in, and the approaches to sustainable building at an affordable price. Hasstoe have a strong tradition of greening their projects , both to lower the environmental impact and to reduce the costs of heating and electricity .

 ·         Vanessa White is the force behind the Powerstock Community Land Trust (CLT), which, with Hastoe, have acquired and built affordable houses in this small rural village. Vanessa will talk about CLTs and the benefits of this form of ownership, which has given many families a chance to live in a home which they can afford.

 ·         Bridport Co-Housing CLT  is working towards ‘a way of living that's more green, less costly & more neighbourly – in Bridport’.  Representatives will come and give an update on their project, which has cleared the final hurdles to develop a community near the hospital. They plan to build 53 affordable house along with common facilities. For further information go to https://bchomes.org.uk/

 ·     Roy Mathison Adams will give an update on the plan to build 300 low cost houses on Watton Hill, to the West of Colfox school.  Substantial progress has been made towards financing ( by a big City institution), design ( all built to passive house standard through Beattie Passive), and with the support of Sir Oliver Letwyn MP.  Copy this link and paste it into your browser https://smartcommunityprojects.org.uk/  for more details.
